Come cook with the whole family in Haver til Maver’s new house in the heart of Frederiksberg, and get a glimpse into the children’s amazing school garden universe in Frederiksberg Gardens.

Together with a couple of Haver til Maver’s skilled chefs, you’ll be guided through the preparation of a delicious plant-based meal with a special focus on onions, which we’ll harvest together in the school garden. Afterwards, we’ll cook a wonderful meal that involves the whole family. The meal can then either be taken home or enjoyed at the long table by Haver til Maver’s new house at Allégade 5.a.

Haver til Maver runs gastronomic school gardens, and every year all 4th and 5th grade classes from schools in Frederiksberg take part in a school garden season, where they learn about the journey from soil to table to soil again, and how to cook delicious plant-based dishes using the vegetables they have grown themselves.

Haver til Maver was founded as a non-profit association in 2006 by chef Søren Ejlersen as a modern reimagining of the traditional school garden concept at Krogerup Avlsgaard in Humlebæk — born out of a vision for reconnecting with the earth and reestablishing the link between cultivation and meal, soil to table, garden to bellies.

The innovation lay in combining food, meals, and community, in integrating the garden experience into school hours rather than it being an extracurricular activity, and in involving professional staff with backgrounds as chefs, gardeners, farmers, or similar.

This Year’s Headliner: The Onion
In 2025, we celebrate the onion in all its forms – from crisp and fresh to slowly caramelized. The onion is more than just an ingredient; it’s a carrier of flavor that can transform any meal. Copenhagen Cooking invites you on a culinary journey through the many layers of the onion, where taste, creativity, and community take center stage.

In case of bad weather...
The event takes place both outdoors and indoors. However, the cooking and communal dining will be indoors. In case of rain, please bring an umbrella or rain gear.

Please note that the price listed doesn't include the additional ticket fee.

We’ll be making delicious, family-friendly dishes with onions as the main focus.
We'll prepare a complete main course with a variety of elements, so there’s something for both kids and adults to enjoy.
