Do you love cheese, and are you in for a day of exiting taste experiences? Well, you have come to the right place my friend. Join The Danish Dairy Board and the cheese campaign, Cheese and Cow, on a cheese safari daytrip through the city of Aarhus, and the central region of Jutland – where the cheese comes from. Through a vairy of educational and inspiring stops throughout the route, we explore the theme: “Creativity: New thinking of the Danish classics (yellow and blue cheese)” – through visits and tastings on the Arla dairy farm of Gjesing and Them.
Program:
8:30 am – Coffee and cheese tasting at Salling Super
Good morning! A bun with special cheese will be served at the award-winning cheese section at Salling Super.
9:00 am – Walk (10 min.) to the Grand Fromage, Guldsmedegade
Meet the cheese specialist, Thomas Lindberg and explore the phenomena “affinage” (cheese aging)
10.00 am - Bus (33 min.) headed to Gjesing Mejeri
10:35 am – Explore the dairy farm of Gjesing - focus: blue cheese
Walk & taste on the dairy farm with the Arla Unika cheese expert Mads Østergaard
12:15 pm – Bus (40 min.) to the dairy farm of Them
12:55 pm – Explore the dairy farm of Them - focus: yellow cheese (team 1)
Walk & taste on the dairy farm with the cheesemaker of Them Bjarne Futtrup
12:55 pm – Cheese lunch in Them (team 2)
We will visit newest cheese store of Them
1:55 pm – Cheese lunch (team 1) exploring the dairy farm (team 2)
2:55 pm – Bus (50 min.) we return to Aarhus City
3:10 pm – Cheesecake and fermented coffee
The popular roastery La Cabra is serving freshly brewed coffee and a composed cheesecake on the bus
3:45 pm – Arrival at Salling – Thank you.
All guests receive a goodie bag with cheese samples from the tastings of the day.
