Drink & Bite 2025: Nordic cuisine meets Piedmont and its wines

Presented by I Vini del Piemonte

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the day before the sixteenth edition of the Barolo & Friends Event in Copenhagen, “Drink & Bite” returns, the year’s most anticipated food and wine event dedicated to Piedmont, in a completely renewed format. The protagonists of this edition will be two exceptional guests: journalist, TV host, and expert sommelier Morten Brink Iwersen, and chef Gorm Wisweh, a Danish television chef and cookbook author, famous for the Gorm’s restaurants. The completely revised format includes a dinner at Gorm’s Ørestad, during which 100 Danish wine enthusiasts will enjoy a show-dinner focused on a menu specially designed by the Chef, presented with a completely new twist inspired by Piedmont and its gastronomic excellence. Alongside the evening’s menu, the dinner will include a selection of main courses that blend Danish and Piedmontese culinary traditions.

Journalist, sommelier, and TV star Morten Brink Iwersen will accompany the tasting with a virtual trip to Piedmont through a selection of labels in search of the perfect pairing. Chef Gorm Wisweh, a Danish television chef and cookbook author, famous for the Gorm’s restaurants.

In 2003, Gorm Wisweh began his journey in the culinary world by baking pizzas in his mother’s café in Svaneke, on the island of Bornholm. In 2008, he and five partners opened the Italian restaurant Magstræde 16 in Copenhagen, on Magstræde Street, where he served as head chef. His career took a significant turn with the founding of Gorm’s Pizza, a pizza restaurant chain that earned him the nickname “The Pizza King” (Pizzakongen in Danish) in the Danish media. The first Gorm’s location outside of Copenhagen opened in Brandts Klædefabrik in Odense in May 2017. In 2018, Orkla acquired a 67% majority stake in the company. Following this acquisition, the opening of eight new locations was announced. Chef Gorm is also known for his numerous publications and his appearances on many cooking shows

Morten Brink Iwersen: journalist and TV star with a passion for wine

Journalist, sommelier and Danish TV star, Morten Brink Iwersen has an immense passion for wine, which began after high school, and led him to work in several production companies. Since then, alongside his work as a journalist and TV presenter, all his free time has been dedicated to the world of wine through a wide range of experiences, including importing, conferences and seminars and, of course, articles published in the most important Danish magazines and newspapers (24timer, Nyhedsavisen and Politiken, Gastro). Most recently, he co-hosted the DR2 series “A toast to Europe?” along with former Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The interest in wine was also shown in a reinterpretation of the ancient Danish Stevnsbær, which fruit researchers have called “Grapes of the North”, and since 2006, he has been co-owner of the Frederiksdal Cherry Wine production company.
