Italy VS Spain - The Olympic Games of Wine

Presented by Wine Note - The Art of Wine Appreciation

Wine Battle: Spain vs Italy

We have to get to it sooner or later - isn't that right?

The Olympics are upon us, Vingegaard is defending the jersey in the Tour, and regardless of the weather, it's going to be one of those summers - a sports summer. We might as well get in the mood right away, so why not have a competition in the discipline of wine tasting between two European giants, namely Italy and Spain. Unlike other disciplines, there can rarely be a clear winner in these kinds of competitions, as the judging panel consists of participants with vastly different tastes. Therefore, it can be fun, and most importantly, educational.

The boot-shaped country with its charm, confidence, and always good taste is the favorite of the Danes, if you are to believe the numbers from Denmark's Statistics. On the other hand, stand the people and wines from the Iberian Peninsula with its somewhat dusty and very misunderstood post-dictatorship image, which covers a true gold mine of gastronomic products that are in the absolute premier league, and even globally.

The most well-known players on the field naturally bear names like Barolo, Rioja, Chianti, and Cava, but in midfield, we will encounter a number of more unknown players who could easily end up playing the leading role in the match.

There will be tastings of 8 wines, 4 from each nation. Nana Wad is the coach of the Italian team, and Morten Wulff coaches the Spaniards.
