Byhaven - Pumpehuset opens its gates to the first unofficial Copenhagen Championship of one of the gastronomical world’s finest disciplines: Tacos.
5 chefs, 5 tacos, 5 drink pairings = 5 great experiences
When the street food wave is over and the last food truck has left Copenhagen, we will luckily and surely be left with the prevalence of Central America’s version of an open face sandwich: A tortilla with toppings aka the taco. The ultimate serving that, unlike the traditional Danish open face sandwich, leaves plenty of room for experiments, add-ons, condiments and not least ingredients that are stronger than horseradish.
We have invited five of Copenhagen’s best chefs to offer their take on the tacos. During the day they work at Danish and international top restaurants, but by night they eat tacos. This day at Byhaven they’ll fight to gain the audience’s favor when the Copenhagen Tacos Championship takes place for the first time. The championship will be decided as a people’s choice award without any taco boundaries. The chefs have 100% liberty to serve exactly their interpretation of the taco, so we’ll probably take a trip around the world - on a taco. The 100 guests are divided into 5 groups of 20 persons, and every group goes through a session with each of the 5 top chefs. Each serving is parred with a drink that matches the chefs interpretation of the taco. In the end, the guests decide the new ruling taco champion.
